The girls of Kappa Omega Chi Sorority would like to wish everyone a very Merry Holiday and a long and restful break. Hopefully this past semester was good to you and you have a fun semester planned ahead. Hope everyone is safe and enjoying the break and the end of this year and the beginning of next yea

Our chapter co-hosted our 5th Annunal Talent Show which was renamed to The M Factor this year. We received the wonderful help of the Phi Sig guys. We had some wonderful acts and had an intermission where some of the pledge classes of the Greek community competed against one another. We ended the M Factor with a Step Stroll show while the judges tallied the scores. We were able to raise $303 for the Mercy Education Project in Southwest Detroit. We are excited to help out this little non-profit organization who does so much for our community but does not ask for much in return.

This Thursday Kappa Omega Chi is having their yearly talent show which has been renamed to The M Factor. Kappa Omega Chi is working on this event with the guys of Phi Sigma Phi and are excited to see how it turns out. The talent show is in Kochoff Hall on Thursday November 11th, 2011 starting at 7pm. We have 9 amazing acts and encourage everyone to come out and have a good time. We are accepting $5 donations before Thursday and we are accepting $7 donations at the door on Thursday. All the proceeds go to the Mercy Education Project in Detroit Mi. If you are interestd in learning more about Mercy Education Project their website is http://www.mercyed.net/.

So it's now August and we have all been busy planning for the fall. How the summer goes by so fast! It seems like last week that we were planning the summer events. Now we're focused on the fall and what the sorority will do once school starts. We have some dates down for fall rush but have not had the rooms reserved and finalized yet. Once that happens the flyer will be put up under Events and Pics. We're also busy thinking about the fall big fundraisers. Every year since Kappa Omega Chi has been a sorority we have had a talent show. We are having it again this fall on November 10th in Kochoff hall at the UC. The talent show proceeds will be going to our local philanthropy which is the Mercy Education Project. Hopefully we have a good turn out for that so we can help our local charities in our own community. While it's still summer we have the ball already rolling for fall so hopefully we will have a great year!

It's finally summer and Kappa Omega Chi has been busy! At the end of the winter semester we were lucky to initate Ashaunda into our sisterhood. We are planning fundraisers for the summer which will have flyers posted as soon as we make them. We are also in the process of looking for new girls for a summer rush so if you're interested let us know.

Fall rush is finally over, and our chapter is excited to welcome 5 new additions to our sorority: Brannigan, Devyn, Chrissy, Jessica and Elizabeth!

For many of you reading our blog, you may be confused by the term 'rush' when referring to sororities and fraternities. We're going to clear that up for you!

Rush is a form of recruitment... less formal, less intense, less demanding. It is simply your opportunity to come out and meet the ladies of our sorority. At UM-Dearborn, we host a series of events that begin this Sunday, September 26th. Because students have varying schedules, it is quite impossible to expect everyone to be able to attend all of our events. Therefore, we try to accomodate as many individuals as possible by having both day and evening events, as well as on and off-campus events.

Rush is different from recruitment in another form as well; it's free! Some, but not all, sororities require a fee to be paid in order to participate in their formal recruitment process. Our events are free, and you are allowed to bring whomever you'd like. We also provide transportation to our events, if for any reason you may need a ride.

Kappa Omega Chi's rush process is broken into two series. The first is Open Rush, which speaks for itself. It is open to all interested ladies, and it is the opportunity for you to get to know us as a group and vice versa. Closed Rush is an invitation only event, designed to get to know each prospective member on an individual basis.

This pretty much sums up the rush process for our organization. We are open to any and all questions.

Each of us has had our first day at UM-Dearborn... most of us have had different experiences. Some of us love the campus, some of us may have wished that it was bigger, some may think that it's too much going on, others may think that it's not enough.

Gladly there are plenty of things to love about UM-Dearborn. We're going to name a few... a plethora of organizations to get involved in from Volunteer Dearborn to Amnesty International, a major to suit just about everyone, PROFESSORS that actually care about the success of the students, cool people to go to school with everyday, student bloggers that keep us up to date with being a student at UM-D. There is definitely something for everyone! Not to mention the Henry Ford Estate being located right behind campus, which is a definite must for lunch one day.

With so many different things going on in our lives, it is nice to have some cohesiveness. That is the epitomy of Kappa Omega Chi Sorority... we are a wonderful group of ladies, small in size that have been bonded through our personal drive, interests and the values of Kappa Omega Chi. We all came into the school with different ideas, and we've all grown to love different things. But in the end, we all love Kappa Omega Chi Sorority.

With that being said, come and visit us at some of our rush events. Grow to love something spectacular at UM-Dearborn!

You're in for a Treat :-)
